Job Title: C-Shift Slitter Operator Job Description

The C-Shift Slitter Operator sets up and operates slitting equipment to convert film materials according to detailed production specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting bills of materials and diagrams, performing machine set-ups and changeovers, threading film into the machine, setting blades to the correct width, programming the machine for length, speed, and tension, and ensuring finished product is properly stacked into containers and sent to shipping. The operator maintains quality standards through regular inspections and basic troubleshooting, while working safely and efficiently in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret bills of materials and diagrams to understand production requirements and machine settings.
  • Perform complete machine set-ups and changeovers for slitter equipment according to job specifications.
  • Thread film into the slitter machine accurately and safely to prepare for production runs.
  • Set blades to the proper width to achieve required product dimensions and quality standards.
  • Program the machine for correct length, speed, and tension using HMI screens and touch screen controls.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal output.
  • Perform basic machine troubleshooting to identify and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues.
  • Use precise measuring instruments such as calipers and durometers to verify product dimensions and quality.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks and inspections to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Utilize hand tools as needed for machine adjustments, maintenance, and set-ups.
  • Remove finished product from the machine, stack items in containers, and prepare materials for transfer to shipping.
  • Maintain accurate attention to detail throughout the production process to minimize errors and waste.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting techniques when troubleshooting machinery.
  • Collaborate with production team members to support efficient workflow and meet production schedules.
  • Maintain great attendance, reliability, and a positive attitude to support consistent and dependable operations.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to perform machine set-ups, changeovers, and adjustments on slitter or similar equipment.
  • Proficiency using precise measuring instruments such as calipers and durometers to verify product quality.
  • Basic math skills to calculate measurements, tolerances, and production parameters.
  • Experience or clear understanding of quality checks and quality control processes in manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate machine settings and consistent product quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams and related production documentation.
  • Capability to bend, stoop, crouch, or twist safely when troubleshooting or adjusting machinery.
  • Comfort using touch screen computers and HMI screens to operate and program equipment.
  • Previous experience in machine operation or manufacturing preferred, though not required.
  • Consistent attendance, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to put forth strong effort in a production setting.
  • Experience with slitter machines, roll forming, conversion equipment, or similar machine operation preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic machine troubleshooting to address minor operational issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating conversion machines is a significant plus.
  • Background in automotive or other work environments requiring strong mechanical aptitude is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with blueprint reading and understanding mechanical drawings is advantageous.
  • General familiarity with hand tools and their use in machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Exposure to production, quality, and manufacturing processes in a clean facility environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to provide a comfortable and safe work setting. The environment supports focused machine operation with modern equipment and touch screen HMI technology. The dress code includes steel toe boots, blue jeans or Cintas pants without holes, and a solid-colored shirt; shorts are also permitted. Employees work in a production-focused setting where attention to safety, cleanliness, and organization is emphasized throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
